Vernetta Cail is an Attorney by day and Blogger by night. She uses her Instagram account @im.grateful to share and inspire gratitude in the world. In late July of this year, she started sharing thought-provoking quotes based around gratitude and she was kind enough to share them with us! She is dedicated to her practice and an inspiration. What does being grateful mean to you?  

Being grateful or having an attitude of gratitude means having an appreciation and love for everything you have, everything you are, everything you receive and everything you do. Without gratitude and taking time to appreciate everything, then you can be left with nothing; so it is important that you take time to practice gratitude daily.  

Right now, in this moment what are 3 things you are grateful for?  

At this very moment, I am grateful I woke up in a warm bed this morning.
I am grateful that everything is coming together at the perfect time.
I am grateful for my upcoming trip where I get to spend some quality time with my mother, twin, and nephew.  

Who has helped you become the person you are today, and what would you’d thank them for? 

I am so very grateful for my parents and everything they have done for me and my siblings. They have instilled in me very important morals/values like hard work and patience that have made me the person I am today. I would like to say thank you for always putting my wants and needs before their own. I am grateful no matter how old I get, they always will be there for me no matter what.  

What inspired you to start im.gratful? 

I was inspired to start im.grateful when I realized I was always reminding my friends the importance of gratitude and how it changed my life. I have been into the law of attraction for quite some time now and I have a lot of different types of gratitude journals. I am in the process of creating my own gratitude kit that I will use to help maintain my daily gratitude practice. Im.grateful is a way for me to not only express daily gratitude for whatever is going on in my life but also to show other people how to incorporate gratitude into their life. I like to follow other people on their journey so I figured why not allow someone else to follow me along.

What is one suggestion you could give to our audience that can help them incorporate gratitude into their daily lives?  

I would say every morning take 10 minutes to write/think about 5 things you are grateful for and why. Practicing gratitude in the morning helps create a positive tone and gets you in a positive mindset for the day. Once in a positive mindset, set an intention for your day and go about your business with a positive attitude and smile on your face.

I have been through a lot of ups and downs and without these constant challenges, I wouldn’t be where I am today. My favorite affirmation is All is Well. Whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I find myself repeating this over and over. I’m constantly thinking about what I am grateful for because I understand in order to receive more you must first be grateful for everything that you have already. My blog is something very new for me. I am a 30 year old from the South Suburbs of Chicago and have spent majority or my life wanting and becoming an Attorney. I still have big plans for my legal career but there is so much more I want to do. I love to travel, practice yoga, write, and experience new things. I am open and ready to receive whatever comes my way and I am grateful in advance for your support.
