About the Book
“We sat in the communal room at the end of the hall—clean, still, numb.”
A People magazine and a Gideon Bible sat on the end table like placeholders for meaning.
In 2022, I found myself back in the same hospital where my mom had died eight years earlier. This time, it was my sister.
Writing a book was never the plan. Surviving the moment was.
That was it. One full of fluff. One full of faith. But where was the third choice? Something human. Something real. Something for the people who don’t want answers—just a little less loneliness.
My sister passed the next morning. And I began writing.
The Little Book of Grief, Grace, and Gratitude isn’t a guide or a solution. It’s a presence. A small offering for anyone sitting in silence, trying to hold on to love while letting go.

I work in a cancer hospital and witness patients beside their loved ones grappling with the immense emotional weight of what so many suffer through. From the first few minutes of reading this book, Chris Palmore feels like an old friend simply telling you his story and demonstrating, through his experiences and famous quotes, how grief is a necessary part of love.
It’s refreshing to encounter a book that doesn’t push for “getting over” the grief, but instead acknowledges it more as something deeply integrated into love that can only be felt and experienced.
“Grief never ends because love never ends” — Angela Miller
This heavy little book is charming with adorable illustrations coaxing a smile through the tears. I certainly think Palmore’s authentic vulnerability in sharing his own losses provides a powerful sense of companionship for the reader and is a gentle invitation to “sit with your own grief,” which is often the hardest but most compassionate act of love for yourself and your loss.
