01
What does being grateful mean to you?
Being grateful means that you acknowledge all the blessings that surround you on a daily basis. We come into this world without anything, so absolutely everything we have is a gift.
Sometimes it’s as simple as being thankful for the air that we breathe and the fact that we are here on Earth another day. Being alive is a gift. Sometimes we get caught up in our lives, and I think that stopping for a moment and being grateful grounds you and brings you back to what’s really important.
“Being alive is a gift.”
02
What are three things, right now, that you are grateful for?
- I am grateful for my life and my freedom to choose my career path. We are blessed to have so many opportunities surrounding us. Each new day is another chance to choose something better and dream bigger.
- I am so grateful for the support system I have around me. I have friends and family who believe in me so much and constantly inspire me to keep going. They are my foundation.
- I am grateful for my one-year-old niece. Her innocence, happiness, and silliness take away any stress or worry in the world. I video chat with her and keep her photos and videos on my phone to look at whenever I need a boost.
03
How has gratitude impacted your journey, and how does it continue to influence where you are headed?
It keeps me grounded. It also keeps me positive, and that positivity attracts others with the same mindset.
04
You are a musician and songwriter as well as an artist working in fashion, illustration, photography, and jewelry. What led you toward such a diverse range of interests, and how do you make room for them?
My family led me to this diverse range of interests. I was introduced to art at a very young age. My grandparents, my aunt, parents, cousins, and sister are all artists. We did everything together—painting, drawing, jewelry, construction, sewing, and more.
Art and being creative are so important to me. It’s like a meditation. My routine is led by my music. A song leads me to sketch clothing designs, draw a video storyboard, sew the clothing, edit the video, and so on. At this point, my drawings and paintings are something I do in my spare time, but I do see them being incorporated into my music at some point as an album cover or in a video.
