Gratitude, Faith & the Joy of Practice

with Megan Lawing

Interview by Chris Palmore

Megan Lawing found her way to yoga through acro yoga with her sister and quickly discovered a practice that brought movement, creativity, faith, and gratitude together.

Known online as @northcarolina_yogagirl, Megan shares the beauty she finds in everyday life while raising her family, pursuing yoga teacher training, and exploring her love of photography.

Here, she reflects on trusting God through uncertainty, the people who inspire her, the joy of trying something new, and the simple awareness that what we have should never be taken for granted.

01

What does being grateful mean to you?

Being appreciative for everything you have in your life.

ā€œBeing grateful means being appreciative for everything you have in your life.ā€

02

Right now, in this moment, what are three things you are grateful for?

My family, my friends, and my freedom.

03

How is gratitude part of your yoga practice?

To be thankful each and every day for something—anything. Waking up each morning and giving thanks to the One who gave me everything that I do have.

04

Could you tell us about a struggle in the past year that you are now grateful for?

This past year, my husband and I both had to get new vehicles. We were so stressed about it at first because that’s two more monthly payments to add into the mix.

We decided to hand our worries and concerns over to God, and He didn’t fail us. He provided means of other income that we didn’t have before, and it was completely unexpected.

I am so grateful that all He asked of us was to trust in Him, and He made the way.
