Megan Lawing found her way to yoga through acro yoga with her sister and quickly discovered a practice that brought movement, creativity, faith, and gratitude together.
Known online as @northcarolina_yogagirl, Megan shares the beauty she finds in everyday life while raising her family, pursuing yoga teacher training, and exploring her love of photography.
Here, she reflects on trusting God through uncertainty, the people who inspire her, the joy of trying something new, and the simple awareness that what we have should never be taken for granted.
01
What does being grateful mean to you?
Being appreciative for everything you have in your life.
āBeing grateful means being appreciative for everything you have in your life.ā
02
Right now, in this moment, what are three things you are grateful for?
My family, my friends, and my freedom.
03
How is gratitude part of your yoga practice?
To be thankful each and every day for somethingāanything. Waking up each morning and giving thanks to the One who gave me everything that I do have.
04
Could you tell us about a struggle in the past year that you are now grateful for?
This past year, my husband and I both had to get new vehicles. We were so stressed about it at first because thatās two more monthly payments to add into the mix.
We decided to hand our worries and concerns over to God, and He didnāt fail us. He provided means of other income that we didnāt have before, and it was completely unexpected.
I am so grateful that all He asked of us was to trust in Him, and He made the way.

You share beautiful images and thought-provoking words with thousands of people every day. Who is a role model of yours, and why?
Kerri Verna (@beachyogagirl) has always been an inspiration to me. Though we have only met a few times, her words and images always inspired me. She somehow always felt very relatable to me.
Another person who is an amazing role model to me is my aunt, Brooke. She leads a Bible study for a small group of ladies every week, and I am so grateful that she asked me to be a part of it. I have learned and grown so much, and I am so thankful that she is in my life.
06
Tell me about a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your life so far.
There have been so many dreams of mine that have come true in the past year, I canāt even name them all. I donāt want to sound like Iām bragging, so I will keep them to myself.
I am so incredibly blessed, and being able to achieve goals that you only think can be dreamed about is an amazing feeling.

How did you get involved with YogaBody Fitness, and what do you love about its trapeze?
I got involved with @yogabodyfitness through Instagram. Their trapeze is so much fun. I love trying new things on it, especially things you think can only be done on the groundāmuch less inverted.
It is a pretty recent activity, but Iām anxious to keep it up.

In closing, what is one suggestion you have for helping our readers incorporate gratitude into their daily lives?
Just realize that everything we have can also be lostāat any moment, or on any given day.
We should be thankful for what we have been given, knowing that it was never ours to begin with.
Megan, thank you for sharing your faith, your practice, and your appreciation for the people and experiences that make life meaningful. Keep shining bright, and weāll keep basking in the light.
